Find a book for the next book review.  Due Thursday.

Tuesday
Classwork:
Grammar #9: Participial phrases, gerunds, and appositives

Homework:
None.

Wednesday
Classwork:
Finish grammar worksheet.  Grade it.
Begin “Metaphorically Speaking” (IBD).
Homework:
Brainstorm: common metaphors that you hear/see all the time.

Thursday
Classwork:
Inside Lab.
Watch two videos and read the transcripts:

Work in groups to deal with difficulty.  Pick one person to create the doc for tonight.
Every person must write an equal number of comments/questions.
Homework:
Finish charting thoughts about these two transcripts (Curzan and Geary)

Classwork:
Share last night’s collaborative work.
Answer the question: What does it mean that metaphor is a way of thought before it is a way with words?
Start looking for metaphors in real life (visual too).
Handout: Metaphors are all around us.  Discuss the comparisons in groups.
Homework:
Post ONE metaphor that you found here.  (About five minutes of work)
